What is an EMRA?

An EMRA is a Emergency Medical Response Area and an EMRA License is granted by the Oklahoma State Department of Health after an agency has shown that they have provided a myriad of requirements such as; licensed and credentialed Paramedics, EMT’s or EMR’s, professional liability insurance, Medical direction from a physician and backup medical direction from another physician in the event of the incapacitation of the main medical director, a response plan, and letter of support from the Local Transporting EMS agency which in our case is REACT EMS. WVFD has an EMRA License with the OSDH and is displayed here and at our stations. in public view per state requirements.

Medical Direction:

WVFD receives its medical direction from Heartland Medical Direction with Dr. Bill Worden as our primary medical director.

Our Paramedics operate under Heartlands protocols with advanced life support individual protocols and approved procedures list.
